Our Academics

Colton Christian School is proud to use Bob Jones University Press curriculum. BJUP has consistently been the gold standard of Christian school curriculum and makes dutiful efforts to ensure all subjects are biblically integrated, saturated with Scriptural truth, and overflowing with opportunities for students to worship the Creator through His creation.

Colton Christian School also recognizes BJUP's response to Common Core as it relates to incorporating sound academic teaching and a Christian perspective: "We do not limit ourselves to the level of the standards but go beyond, based on our philosophy of learning and sound educational practices. In other words, our materials exceed these Common Core State Standards in age-appropriate instruction and academic rigor."

Resources

We have a highly qualified, credentialed faculty member dedicated to help each student achieve their academic goals. Through a focused, individualized approach to education that assesses unique learning styles and abilities for students with different learning needs. In our resource program, we strive to engage students by using all three learning modalities, (visual, auditory, and kinesthetic) to make academic content accessible. Our Resource Coordinator also facilitates individual learning plans, including IEPs and 504 plans to make sure teachers and students are best equipped to teach and learn.

Accreditation

Colton Christian School is in its flagship year and is therefore preparing documentation to request candidacy for accreditation through the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). All of our staff members are well versed in the accreditation process and we are excited to begin!

Spiritual Life

Colton Christian School incorporates Biblical truth into all of its subjects and each teacher dedicates specific time for a daily devotion, Bible class, and weekly chapel. Students are required to have a personal Bible which they will use and reference daily for classwork and homework. Colton Christian School memorize Scripture and learn how to courageously develop and defend their faith. Additionally, Colton Christian School students complete community service hours throughout their their academic career to train them to lead by example and serve others in worship to Christ.
Literacy

If there is a skill that Christians everywhere need to practice, it's reading! Reading helps us understand and apply Scripture, be informed and participatory citizens, learn new things, and enjoy all kinds of literature!

Science

Our God has created a magnificent and mysterious world that we can use science to learn about! By using the scientific method, we can discover the truth about God's word and His order.

Writing

God is an excellent communicator! How can we become more like Him as we hone the ability to think and write with reason, clarity, and creativity? Writing is a great way to share our testimony and develop new ideas.

Heritage Studies

How has God demonstrated His power and providence throughout time? Heritage studies allows us to study God's will in action in Scripture and social studies!

Mathematics

God is incredible in that He ordered the universe to be understood! We can use examples from Scripture to see how precise and mathematical God has been with the heroes of the Bible, and how we can use math today to help others!

Physical Education

God made each of us in His own image and we are to be good stewards of the bodies we've been given. Learning about health and movement helps us honor God with our bodies.
